10 Celebs Who Dropped Their Family When They Got Famous

Sure, being a celebrity is a lot more exciting and glamorous than being a parent but the idea of giving up your family for fame sounds ludicrous, right? Well, not to these celebrities. Once you get a taste of fame, there is just no going back to regular life. Not even a family would make them give up their fifteen minutes of fame.

Some of these celebrities started families long before they got a taste of fame and basically threw their families to the curb when they had a chance at stardom. Some celebrities left their previous partners and kids behind to shack up with a bigger celebrity--how much lower can you get? One of the Kardashians bagged two separate men who had children. One of these men already had a partner and multiple kids and the other had a pregnant girlfriend!

Other celebrities used their kids to get famous in the first place and then abandoned them afterward. Some stick with the partners for years before they get that big break and when they're rich and famous enough to get a younger and more attractive partner, they dump the one who was there with them from the beginning when they had nothing.

However, not all of these celebrities are as heinous as you might expect. One celebrity didn't abandon her family when she got famous--her family abandoned her! Another celebrity made the choice to give up her daughter for adoption because she had just landed her first big role in Hollywood. Their stories will shock you!

Farrah Abraham got her start by being sixteen and pregnant on MTV’s Sixteen and Pregnant and then went on to Teen Mom which turned her into a D-list celebrity. She has gotten a lot of flack for being a bad mom, and rightly so.

She regularly puts makeup on her young daughter, Sophia, and even admitted waxing her baby's eyebrows in her sleep!

Then Abraham tried to launch herself into fame Kim Kardashian-style by releasing a video which didn't quite pan out for her in the same way. When Sophia was just four years old, Abraham decided to take a "break" from being a mom so that she could have more time to give interviews and to appear at clubs and parties. According to the Daily Mail, Farah said that, "It’s healthy that we have a break. She has her own life and is doing her own thing, and I’m doing mine.”

Khloe Kardashian's pregnancy has been all over the tabloids but who is the baby's father? The father is Khloe's boyfriend is 27-year-old Tristan Thompson, a professional basketball player for the Cleveland Cavaliers. While Khloe's pregnancy may be exciting, let's not forget Thompson's first child, Prince Oliver, who he had with his model ex-girlfriend, Jordan Craig (also known as Jordy C).

Here's the thing, Prince is only a year old. Khloe and Thompson have been dating for a year and a half and Khloe has just given birth! That's right, Thompson actually first hooked up with Khloe while his girlfriend was still very pregnant. To make matters even messier, Jordy C is one of the many exes of Tyga (Kylie Jenner's ex) and she is cousins with Kevin Hart's wife Eniko Parrish! Thompson also, hasn't seemed to change his ways, as it was just reported that he was unfaithful to her.

Whether you know her as Galina "Red" Reznikov on Orange is the New Black or Captain Kathryn Janeway on Star Trek: Voyager, Kate Mulgrew is a prolific actress who has had a long and successful career. When she was in her junior year at Stella Adler’s Conservatory, she landed a big role in a soap opera and found out she was pregnant.

She told the producers that she was pregnant and they ended up writing the pregnancy into the show.

She wanted to keep focusing on her career and seeing as she didn't have any support from her family or the baby's father, Mulgrew gave the baby up for adoption. Years later, Mulgrew hired a private investigator to find the daughter she had given up and, while she was on the set of Star Trek: Voyager, she received a phone call from her daughter, Danielle Gaudette. The two have been close ever since.

Khloe Kardashian isn't the only one in the Kardashian/Jenner clan who got a man to abandon his family. Tyga first met Kylie Jenner when she was only 14 when he performed at Kendall Jenner's sweet 16 party and the two became friends. Just a few days after he had been seen partying at Kylie's 17th birthday party, Tyga ended his engagement to baby mama Blac Chyna, two years after their son King Cairo was born.

Kylie and Tyga's relationship never actually became official until after she had turned 18 but it was very clear that they were dating before she was a legal adult.

Not only did he start a romantic relationship with an underage girl but he also abandoned his family to do so. Fortunately, Kylie has since moved on with Travis Scott and recently welcomed their daughter, Stormi.

Khloe Kardashian and French Montana first hooked up in 2014 after meeting in Las Vegas and it was around that time when Montana divorced his wife and abandoned his kid. Montana was married to Deen Kharbouch from 2007 until 2014 and they have a son together named Kruz who was born in 2009. While Kardashian and Montana were off and on and off again, the rapper became more and more distant from his ex-wife and his young son.

Eventually, Kardashian and Montana finally called it off for good because he was too "needy" according to Us Magazine.

While Montana is still in contact with his son, he and his ex-wife are estranged. So far we know of two different men who ditched their families for Khloe Kardashian but there's one more on the list that you might not be aware of.

The family has since patched things up but when Katy Perry released her 2008 song "I Kissed a Girl", her parents (who are both Christian ministers) basically disowned her. Perry had been trying to become a music artist for years before she reached mainstream success and even released an album under her birth name, Kate Hudson.

When she ditched the Christian music scene and released her album One of the Boys, her parents thought that she would, according to The Christian Post, "bring an end to their ministry."

The Daily Mail reported that Perry's mother, Mary Hudson, said, "I hate the song. Its message is shameful and disgusting." However, after 10 years have passed and Perry's parents have realized that their ministry has done better than ever now that they have a famous daughter to capitalize on, they have since patched things up.

Harrison Ford had been acting since 1966 but he didn't make it big until he portrayed Han Solo in Star Wars in 1979. Before he even started acting professionally, he was married to Mary Marquardt and the couple had two children together.

However, the marriage ended in 1979, the same year that Ford was launched into stardom, but it was never revealed why the marriage fell apart. That was until years later when Carrie Fisher published her memoir The Princess Diarist.

In the book, Fisher detailed her relationship with Ford that transpired during the filming of Star Wars when she was 19 and he was 33. Though she claimed that Ford and Marquardt did not break up because of it, it seems pretty clear that realized that with his newfound stardom, he could have his pick of beautiful, young women, and his wife and two children were put on the back burner.

That's right, Khloe Kardashian has dated three men who abandoned their families for her. Though Khloe and Lamar Odom started dating in 2009 and Odom had already broken up with his baby mama Liza Morales in 2008, he still put his family to the wayside after hooking up with Khloe. Odom and Morales had three children together before they broke up but, sadly, their youngest son, Jayden, passed when he was only a month old due to sudden infant death syndrome.

Kardashian and Odom only dated for a month before they were married in 2009 and they got their own spinoff show, Khloe & Lamar, in 2010 which lasted for two seasons.

Over the course of their relationship, Odom rarely spoke about his children at all. It soon became clear that their relationship was on the rocks and, in July of 2015, they finally signed the divorce papers.

However, before she married Tom, Erika had already been married at the age of 18 and had a son, Tommy Zizzo, when she was 21. Tommy is now 23 years old and a police officer in Los Angeles but Erika rarely talks about him on the show.

After she and her first husband divorced, she moved to LA and left her 3-year-old son behind to be raised by his father. Erika married Tom after just one year of dating back in 1999 when her son was 7 and he wasn't even present for the wedding. Though she wasn't present for much of her son's life, she claims that they have gotten closer since he became an adult.

You probably already know that Dean McDermott is definitely not in the running for Dad of the Year but his parenting is even worse than you'd think. McDermott's and Tori Spelling's relationship began as a relationship while he was still married to his ex-wife, Mary Jo Eustace, and she was married to her ex-husband, Charlie Shanian.

McDermott and Spelling eventually got married and had five children of their own but McDermott had a son from his previous marriage who he essentially abandoned when he started a new family with Spelling.

Recently, Eustace claims he owes $100,000 in child support and alimony payments. Daily Mail reported that McDermott admitted that he owes her money but can't pay because he's not "making a ton of money right now." This may mean jail time for McDermott.
