China is a mountainous country, including hills, the mountainous area, accounting for two-thirds of the country's land area, there are many cities built in three-dimensional landscape, surrounded by mountains, forming a unique urban landscape, and is known as the mountain city, there are many cities built between the plains and hills, and the only exception is the following ten prefecture-level cities, where there is not even a mountain, called a flat river, which is your hometown?
I. Yancheng City
Yancheng is located in the central part of Jiangsu Province, where the Yellow River enters the sea after the formation of alluvial plains, there is no mountain range here, as far as the eye can see, a flat river, most areas less than 5 meters above sea level, the highest place for the abandoned Yellow River embankment, the elevation is only 8 meters, here even a hills can not be found.
Salt City is born from salt. Since ancient times, there have been salt rivers and salt farms all over the city, and Yancheng County was established during the Eastern Jin Dynasty. It is a small and low-key city with picturesque scenery and delicious food.
Although Yancheng has no mountains, it has wetlands, forests and the sea. It has 582 kilometers of coastline, the longest in Jiangsu, and six million mu of coastal mudflats, known as the first in Asia. Kaifeng, a prefecture-level city in Henan Province, is located in the hinterland of the Central Plains and on the banks of the Yellow River. It is the only capital city in the world where the city's central axis has never changed, and eight dynasties have set up their capitals here, with a history of more than 4,100 years of city building and capital building so far. During the Northern Song Dynasty, as the capital of the Song Dynasty, Kaifeng had a population of more than 1.5 million, making it the world's largest city at that time.
Kaifeng is between 69-78 meters above sea level, with flat terrain, open view, flat rivers, and no high mountains and hills. Some people once found towering stone hills in the painting "Qingming Shanghe Tu", which depicts the customs of Kaifeng, but in fact, the ones with hills are imitations and copies, and there is not even a small hill in Kaifeng.
Kaifeng, due to the siltation of the Yellow River over the years, has not only raised the riverbed here, making the Yellow River a "hanging river" higher than the city, but also buried 6 cities, including 3 capital cities, 2 provincial cities and 1 state city, at 3 to 12 meters underground, constituting a rare city on top of a city in China.
The only place called "mountain" in Kaifeng is Ban Ban Mountain, a large royal garden artificially built up in the seventh year of the Northern Song Dynasty (1117), which was also glorious back then, hiding the beauty of the world's landscapes and collecting the great achievements of the north and south garden architecture, epitomizing the country's landscape wonders, and Song Emperor Huizong once praised Ban Ban Mountain's beautiful scenery as "both encompassing and enumerating, as well as winning the best".
The most attractive thing about Kaifeng is the Song culture, but the present Kaifeng is built afterwards, and most of the Song dynasty relics are buried underground, and Tianbo Yangfu and Kaifeng House are imitations not the real ones. If you want to see the real monuments, Kaifeng Iron Pagoda is counted as one, this tower was built in the Northern Song Dynasty, because the tower is paved with brown glazed bricks, from the Yuan Dynasty folk call it "Iron Pagoda", for thousands of years, through countless earthquakes, floods, still standing, is the true soul of Kaifeng, the city's treasure.
