All kidding aside, there are a few celebrity marriages that are infamous for all the wrong reasons— they are rather short-lived.
Marriage is the ultimate goal for any couple. Reaching the altar and saying their I do's alongside the love of their lives is certainly a dream come true. It’s every person’s dream to do so and even celebs would want to tie the knot with someone special. For some celeb, however, tying the knot is a process they do and go through rather quickly.
It is sad to admit it, but the truth is, many marriages often end in an annulment or a divorce. Regular marriages are very prone to sad endings and celeb marriages are the same. Hollywood has seen countless surprise marriages in the recent years, and that’s because some celebs are rather impulsive, and they just can’t help tie the knot the moment they get the chance.
Jennifer Lopez And Cris Judd
Jennifer Lopez, aka Jenny from the Block, is one of Hollywood’s most sought-after woman. Throughout her life, J.Lo has been through tons of ups and downs, in terms of love and relationships. In 2014, she ended her 10-year marriage with Marc Anthony. Everybody thought that the two were happy and were destined to spend the rest of their lives with each other, but apparently, that’s not the case. Before that, J.Lo dated other celebs, including Ben Affleck. Her first marriage was with a man named Ojani Noa, but it was a bond that lasted only for a year. That’s not J.Lo’s shortest marriage though, as that award goes to her marital affair with actor and choreographer, Cris Judd.
Sophia Bush And Chad Michael Murray
One Tree Hill was one of the hit TV shows in the mid-2000's, and the stars of the show had quite the following of fans rooting behind them. Of course, it goes without saying that these fans shipped some of the couples on the show, and they wanted to see them date in real life. They got what they bargained for when co-stars, Chad Michael Murray and Sophia Bush, announced that they were officially dating. It was a dream come true for many fans, and they wished the dashing couple a lovely relationship. They tied the knot in 2005, but it was a short-lived marriage. Fans’ hearts from all over the globe broke upon hearing the news, but Sophia was hurt the most.
Colin Farrell And Amelia Warner
Hollywood is filled with celebrities that want to keep to themselves. We can’t blame these personalities from keeping their private lives out of the sight of cameras though, as that is a rather mundane feeling to go through on a regular basis. Colin Farrell is one of those Hollywood figures that keep most of his private life a mystery. But of course, there are times when the cat is mistakenly let out of the bag. When it comes to relationships, Colin’s most famous affair has to be his time together with Amelia Warner. The two dated for a while and it lead to a marriage that didn’t last very long.
Pamela Anderson And Kid Rock
As one of Hollywood’s premier actresses, it should be no surprise that many other icons are eyeing a relationship with Pamela Anderson. She certainly has a long list of suitors behind her and she has married three different men, most of the marriage ended abruptly. Apparently, Pamela has a certain liking to musicians because out of the three men she has married, two are rockstars. One of her former lovers is Kid Rock, and the couple began dating in 2001. They got engaged in 2002 but a wedding never materialized between the two, and they separated in 2003. That wasn’t the end of of their love story, though.
Nicholas Cage And Lisa Marie Presley
Nicholas Cage is pictured by many as one of Hollywood’s good guys. Or one of the guys that barely makes any bad PR moves in his life. Nick is all too human though, and some of his life’s biggest mistakes were caught on cam. The premier Hollywood actor is married to Alice Kim now. It’s a marriage that could last his lifetime, and the two have been together since 2004. Before this marriage though, Nick had other plans and that was to spend the rest of his life with the daughter of the King of Rock and Roll, Lisa Marie Presley. As expected, this was just a small hurdle that Nick had to go through before meeting Alice.
Kim Kardashian And Kris Humphries
Kim Kardashian is now happily married to Kanye West. Before her marriage to one of hip hop’s biggest stars, Kim has been up and down in her love life. She was married to record producer, Damon Thomas, in 2000, and their marriage lasted for four years. It’s a pretty long marriage by Hollywood’s standards. After her marriage with Thomas, Kim went through a few relationships and in 2011, she was married to the basketball star, Kris Humphries. The marriage between the two K’s was televised. It was a fairy-tale wedding and many expected that to be Kim’s forever after but they proved critics wrong rather quickly.
Pamela Anderson And Rick Salomon
Pamela Anderson was the fantasy of many teenage boys back when she started her career as one of Hollywood’s premiere actresses. It’s not only the teenage boys taking notice of her appeal, as several other prominent Hollywood figures have also tried their shot at courting Pamela. She has been in several marriages and relationships throughout her career in Hollywood. While the most famous one has to be her relationship with the drummer, Tommy Lee, her most controversial relationship has to be with Rick Salomon, who many know from Paris Hilton’s infamous tape.
Mario Lopez And Ali Landry
Mario Lopez is one of Hollywood’s well-loved heartthrobs. His dashing smile and all too energetic appeal has swooned many women, and this includes a list of celebrities as well. Though he may look like a nice guy, Mario does not have the best relationship track record. In 2004, he married her girlfriend of six years, Ali Landry. With a long history tailing their marriage, many thought that it would last for a really long time. As compared to other short Hollywood marriages, Mario and Ali’s were already built on a solid foundation of six years but sadly, even solid relationships don’t last long any more.
Eddie Murphy And Tracey Edmonds
Eddie Murphy is one funny guy, so it’s no surprise that he’s been able to date some beautiful women throughout his life. He’s not exactly a playboy so Eddie has tried taking some of his relationships to higher levels. That’s what he did when he dated American businesswoman and TV personality, Tracey Edmonds. The two were polar opposites, Eddie was this light-hearted comedian that never fails to make us laugh. On the other hand, Tracey is this serious icon that is all about business. Despite the differences, the two found love in each other’s arms. That was until they decided to tie the knot.
Rudolph Valentino And Jean Acker
It’s apparent that celebrity marriages don’t really last long, especially if the two parties involved decide to take their relationship to the next level abruptly. These short-lived celebrity marriages begs the question— just how quick was the shortest celebrity marriage? The answer lies way back in 1919. The parties involved are famous Italian actor, Rudolph Valentino, also known as the Latin Lover. His bride was none other than Jean Acker. These are stars during their own time and hardly any one remembers them anymore but their marriage is very infamous.
Ernest Borgnine And Ethel Merman
Many would initially think that the trend of short-lived Hollywood marriages began only recently, but that is far from true. Even way back when, celebs were way too quick to tie the know, and it resulted in a few short-lived marriages as well. We don’t know what the deal is with celebs today, but they do love sad endings for some reason. One celeb marriage from way back when that started and ended all too quickly is between Hollywood veterans, Ernest Borgnine and Ethel Merman. Back then, it was a match made in heaven but alas, the curse of celebrity marriages befell them, too.
Their quickie marriage lasted for only 32 days after they married in 1964. According to Ernest, his wife was very jealous of the support and adoration he got from fans during their honeymoon. “Everybody knew me, but they didn’t know Ethel overseas,” the Hollywood star once told Mandrake. “The more they recognised me, the madder she got. That’s what hurt her, so she started taking it out on me.” Ethel wasn’t one to go without saying a few things though, as she devoted a chapter of her autobiography to Ernest, which is literally a single blank page.
