It’s every person’s dream to do so and even celebs would want to tie the knot with someone special. For some celeb, however, tying the knot is a process they do and go through rather quickly.
It is sad to admit it, but the truth is, many marriages often end in an annulment or a divorce. Regular marriages are very prone to sad endings and celeb marriages are the same. Ernest Borgnine And Ethel Merman
Many would initially think that the trend of short-lived Hollywood marriages began only recently, but that is far from true. Even way back when, celebs were way too quick to tie the know, and it resulted in a few short-lived marriages as well. We don’t know what the deal is with celebs today, but they do love sad endings for some reason. One celeb marriage from way back when that started and ended all too quickly is between Hollywood veterans, Ernest Borgnine and Ethel Merman. Back then, it was a match made in heaven but alas, the curse of celebrity marriages befell them, too.
Their quickie marriage lasted for only 32 days after they married in 1964. According to Ernest, his wife was very jealous of the support and adoration he got from fans during their honeymoon. “Everybody knew me, but they didn’t know Ethel overseas,” the Hollywood star once told Mandrake. “The more they recognised me, the madder she got. That’s what hurt her, so she started taking it out on me.” Ethel wasn’t one to go without saying a few things though, as she devoted a chapter of her autobiography to Ernest, which is literally a single blank page.
