One upon a time no self-respecting celebrity would be seen arriving at a red carpet event in anything but a limousine, and many of the most successful stars even owned their own limo.
While there are still plenty of limousines pulling up at the Oscars and movie premieres, many celebrities now choose to make their mark by driving to red carpet events in luxury cars that are much more eye-catching and much, much more expensive than limousines.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson made a scene when he struggled to get his wrestler frame out of the Pagani Huayra he drove to the Season Two premiere of his TV show, Ballers, while in 2017 several environmentally-friendly celebrities arrived at the ceremony in an electric Tesla Model S.

Some 21st century celebrities still appreciate the classic and timeless glamour of a limousine, including Kim Kardashian and Kanye West who love nothing more than making an entrance with a limo. Other members of the Kardashian family are also fans of limousines, with Kourtney even hiring a stretch SUV just to take her niece out for breakfast.

John Lennon owned one of the most iconic and colorful limousines of all time. Underneath the psychedelic artwork, Lennon’s limo was a 1965 Rolls-Royce Phantom V Touring Limousine which was “Valentine Black” when it was delivered new to the Beatles singer. The exterior was decorated by artist Steve Weaver, and Lennon made his own custom modifications to the interior too.

Although party girl Paris has settled down in recent years, at the height of her fame she and her friends were often snapped by the paparazzi falling in and out of limousines having had a little too much to drink.

As one of the most iconic stars of all time, Elvis Presley also had an iconic collection of limousines to match. The King bought his first limo in 1954; a Fleetwood Limousine that was destroyed when he used it to move animals around the grounds of Graceland. Presley soon replaced it with a 1958 Cadillac and a 1961 Rolls Royce Phantom V.
