8 Celebrity Kids Who Were Clearly Not Planned!

Over the years boys and girls have been told to grow up dreaming of marrying their high school sweetheart and having lots of children. From as soon as we are born we are told that we are supposed to get married before having kids and that tradition is what we aspire to be. Women are told to wear a white dress and the bride and groom are supposed to remain faithful. We are supposed to build a home together and fill it with children and grandchildren. And we are supposed to spend the rest of eternity with our chosen partner and pass peacefully in the comfort of our family. However, this usually only happens in the movies. It is becoming much more common these days to see couples, or even singles, choosing to have children before getting married. And guess what? That's fine!

At the end of the day there is no one way to live the perfect life, no matter what people try to tell you and celebrities are no different either. Just think about it. With the constant media invasion, press attention and pressure of the paparazzi, it is no surprise to see celebrities living their lives that little bit differently. So, to celebrate all things that are non traditional, here are 8 celebrity kids that were clearly not planned.


Alicia Keys is one of the most famous women in music as well as one of the most successful. Still going strong after first debuting her album in 2001, Keys also has somewhat of an active social life. In 2008 Keys began dating rapper Swizz Beatz, who was still in the process of divorcing his then wife, singer Mashonda Tifrere. Beatz already had two children from two different women as well as a daughter in London who he had no idea existed at the time.

Two years later Keys was also pregnant so the pair swiftly announced their engagement and eventual marriage. Shot gun wedding anyone? Now happily married the pair have another son, Genesis Ali Dean who was most likely planned. You know what they say, it's a surprise not a mistake.


Ryan Gosling first began dating Eva Mendes in 2011 while filming The Place Beyond the Pines. Three years later Mendes gave birth to their first daughter, Esmeralda Amada Gosling. The love birds have a habit of keeping their relationship extremely private, even refusing to attend movie premiers with one another. Then just 18 months later Mendes gave birth to second daughter, Amada Lee Gosling. The couple never released a statement adding to rumours that the youngster was unplanned.

One source later claimed that Eva "just hasn't ever wanted anyone beyond her close friends and family knowing more than they had to. And Ryan is certainly private and always has been." The two have also yet to marry, refusing to conform to traditional and standardised norms. Couple goals!


In 1997, English soccer legend David Beckham started dating Spice Girl Victoria Adams after she attended a Manchester United soccer match. At the time Victoria was extremely famous and was known round the world as, "Posh Spice". The pair were quickly dubbed "Posh and Becks" and attracted lots of attention across the globe. Just one year later Beckham proposed, mostly due to the fact that Victoria was pregnant with their first son.

Brooklyn Beckham was born a few months later and was able to attend his parents wedding. Posh and Becks went on to have three more children, Romeo, Cruz and Harper Seven, and are the epitome of a happy family. Brooklyn, now an adult, is almost as famous as his parents and is currently dating Hollywood superstar, Chloë Grace Moretz.


In 2010 after her public separation from boy band member Nick Lachey, Jessica Simpson began dating retired NFL player Eric Johnson. Just two years later Simpson gave birth to their first daughter, Maxwell Drew Johnson, with the couple insisting that she was planned. Then that same year, no less than a few months after the birth of Maxwell, Simpson announced that she was pregnant again. The following year she gave birth to son Ace Knute Johnson, with the children just one year apart.

In 2014, Simpson and Johnson married with Simpson later joking that they had kept trying to set dates but that "he keeps knocking me up!" Admitting that the pair had not planned for baby number two Simpson confessed, "apparently it was a part of God's plan for my life, I was extremely shocked...because I was going through a lot of hormonal changes, trying to get back to the old, vibrant Jessica. You know, it was kind of like a one-night stand. And it happened, all over again!"


Actress Angelina Jolie married actor Billy Bob Thornton in 2002 just two months after they first met. After their marriage, Jolie and Thornton announced the adoption of a young boy from Cambodia, however they then separated just three months later.

In 2005, Jolie met Brad Pitt while working on the movie, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, but dismissed allegations of a relationship as Pitt was still married to Jennifer Aniston. The pair eventually got together and were the subject of intense media coverage throughout the world. Pitt took on Jolie's son and adopted him as his own, they then went on to adopt two more before falling pregnant by surprise with Shiloh. The couple then went on to naturally conceive twins resulting in six children in just a few years. In 2016 the couple announced they were separating much to the surprise of Hollywood.


In 2012, Kim Kardashian began dating world famous rapper and longtime buddy Kanye West. Just one year later Kim gave birth to the couple's first child, North, with Kim claiming the pregnancy was planned. However, at the time Kim was still married to basketball player Kris Humphries who had accused Kim of lying in order to speed up their divorce settlement.

Humphries lawyers claimed, "what is really going on here is that an 'urgency' in the form of an apparently unplanned pregnancy, something Humphries had nothing to do with, is perceived by Kim as an opportunity to gain a litigation advantage by trying to force this court to prematurely set this matter for trial." Scandalous! The divorce was eventually finalized with Kim and Kanye marrying in 2014.


In 2004, Solange Knowles married Daniel Smith when she was just 17 years old and he just 19. A few months later Knowles gave birth to their son, Daniel Julez J. Smith, Jr who Knowles refers to as "the greatest unplanned blessing". Knowles has often expressed her regret at having a child when she herself was so young but credits her son with completing her life.

In fact, Solange even dedicated a song to him, named "6 O'Clock Bluse". However, in 2007, Knowles announced that she and her husband had divorced with Knowles going on to marry music video director Alan Ferguson. Daniel is also extremely close with his Aunt, Beyonce, and uncle Jay Z, as well as cousins Blue Ivy and twins Rumi and Sir Carter. What a family!


American football player Tom Brady dated actress Bridget Moynahan from 2004 to 2006. Shortly after their split Moynahan confirmed that she was more than three months pregnant with Brady's child with Brady ending the relationship soon after he had found out. Moynahan gave birth to John Edward Thomas in 2007 however Brady had already moved on with supermodel Gisele Bündchen.

Brady and Bündchen married in February 2009 and now have two children together. Things became heated when Bündchen made comments about Moynahan's son admitting, "it’s not like because somebody else delivered him, that’s not my child, I love him the same way as if he were mine. I already feel like he’s my son, from the first day." Moynahan was unimpressed and later insinuated the supermodel was using her son in order to gain publicity.
