An Unforeseen Career Change That Sparked The Creation Of Beautiful Custom Pet Portraits

I changed my career because of COVID-19, then realised it was the best thing that could have happened to me.

I started a new business called Lark and Bark, making custom pet portraits from people’s photos. It’s a lot of fun, I fill people with joy and get to see super cute animal photos every day!

Before lockdown, I was working as a freelance music photographer and had just launched a large three month solo exhibition at a museum. Unfortunately the museum had to close two weeks later. I realised that my career photographing concerts and festivals would certainly be on hold for the foreseeable future and felt lost and fearful for what to do next.

I decided to use my digital editing skills to create pet portraits and turned something I loved into a sustainable career. I can do this without human contact and provide a service that makes people happy and keep using skills I acquired as a photographer.
