Looking back at the history of TWS headphones, in 2016, Apple canceled the 3.5mm headphone hole on the iPhone 7 body and released the first generation of AirPods. in that year, this was not well received by most consumers. "Wired headphones cut a line to sell more than 1200 yuan, sure it's not a money grab?" However, after consumers have experienced the true wireless Bluetooth headset, who can not say a true fragrance. Since then, TWS headset products show a well of growth. TWS headset also from the year the tycoon optional, slowly become today's "hand a" standard products.
For cell phone manufacturers, the biggest advantage of launching their own TWS headset products is the high degree of adaptation with their own cell phone products. For users like me who often play mobile games, the products of traditional manufacturers have some advantages in terms of sound quality, but not in terms of latency and connection stability. So which phone to choose which wireless headset, gradually become the optional guidelines for TWS headphones.
Glory's recently launched Earbuds 3 Pro is Glory's first TWS product with a "high-end" layout. The moment I got it in my hand, I couldn't wait to unpack it and have some experience. In the second half of 2020, Glory became independent. However, for some reasons that you and I understand, there are still inextricable links between Glory and Huawei, accessories, wearable products, etc. are still adapting to each other. For me with Huawei P40 Pro and Huawei Freebuds Pro, this time I got the Glory Earbuds 3 Pro, this experience report, will also compare these two products that are positioned similarly.
I. Sound quality
The main selling point of the Glory Earbuds 3 Pro is the sound quality, promotional literature or advertising all mention "the world's first ultra-wide coaxial dual-unit TWS headphones with large amplitude dynamic coil and ceramic tweeter". 11mm dynamic woofer + ceramic tweeter coaxial dual-unit combination, covering the human ear can The 11mm dynamic woofer + ceramic tweeter coaxial dual-unit combination, covering the human ear can hear the frequency range, to bring the overall natural and balanced sound quality experience.
In fact, in many headphone products, the use of low-frequency tweeter dual-unit products are not few, this design brings the derivative problem is too weak in the middle frequency, the human voice, as the typical articulation of high frequency and bass part, if improperly tuned, will have a greater impact on the listening experience. The Glory Earbuds 3 Pro does a surprisingly good job in this regard, with an even distribution of the three frequencies: the bass is powerful but not booming, the midrange is full of vocals and not collapsing, and the high-frequency details are retained in place. There is no deliberate pursuit of "HiFi" type listening sense correct, but in line with the listening habits of most ordinary consumers. For a first $ 849 true wireless headset products, I think it is very qualified.
Second, active noise reduction
This time, Honor Earbuds 3 Pro uses Hybrid ANC program, that is, each headset has two built-in noise-canceling microphones, feed-forward collection of noise outside the headset, feedback collection of noise in the ear canal, two rounds of active noise cancellation, the maximum degree to ensure the width of noise reduction, the official propaganda up to 46dB noise reduction depth. At the same time, and Huawei Freebuds Pro equipped with the same intelligent adjustment of the noise reduction intensity function. Different scenes use different noise reduction intensity, such as offices, study rooms and other quieter places, using 20dB + light noise reduction; cafes, streets and other medium noise occasions using 30dB + medium noise reduction; aircraft subway and other noisy environments using deep noise reduction. Headphones automatically adjust to avoid ear pressure and listening discomfort caused by too much noise reduction intensity on different occasions.
These years also more or less experienced a dozen or so TWS active noise cancellation headphones, know that the parameters are one side of the experience is another. And because of the Huawei Freebuds Pro has been using a relatively poor noise cancellation experience, hands on before and do not have hope for the "division from the same family" of Honor headphones noise cancellation function. After the experience, I was surprised to feel good. Especially for the filtering effect of the human voice, the product experience exceeds the performance of this price point should be. For the low frequency noise in the environment is more fixed frequency, noise reduction effect is more needless to say, very good.
III. Connection, Adaptation and Interaction
This time the Glory Earbuds 3 Pro, the first high-end flagship headset product launched after Glory's independence, but it seems to be adapted with Huawei phones, but again only a little. Firstly, it does not support Huawei's cell phone's open cover and pop-up window, the latest firmware of Honor Earbuds 3 Pro only supports Honor's cell phone's open cover and pop-up window function; secondly, it is adapted to Huawei's game low latency mode, but there are bugs that affect the experience. You need to put the game into the background and open it again to enter the low latency mode normally. Thirdly, it is not adapted to Huawei's Smart Life, which means that it is not possible to check the headset's power level in the negative screen and the drop-down notification bar. You need to download Honor Smart Life separately in order to view the power and the noise reduction settings of the headset itself.
Another regret of Pride Earbuds 3 Pro is that it only supports AAC protocol, so I don't know if it's an examination of compatibility, but it doesn't support the higher specification Bluetooth audio protocols on the market. As the headset itself is tuned relatively well, AAC protocol may become the shortest piece of wood that limits the sound quality. I hope the next generation of products can be upgraded, compatible with AptX, LHDC, LDAC and other audio protocols with higher bit rates.
Interaction wise, Glory uses double tap to play/pause, swipe up and down to adjust volume, press and hold to adjust noise reduction mode (noise reduction, transmissive and off), and three taps to measure body temperature. Almost the same operating logic as Huawei Freebuds Pro, also brings the same problem - the volume adjustment when lying on its side is very easy to accidentally touch, and the headset settings do not provide the option to turn off the sliding operation.
Honor Earbuds 3 Pro supports voice calls to voice assistants of different brands of cell phones, and the wake-up keyword is "Hello, YOYO".
Fourth, the workmanship and wear
Glory regardless of cell phones or wearable products, workmanship has always been more excellent, Earbuds 3 Pro is also the same, the headphones are well made, the seams are flat, the workmanship level is much better than Huawei Freebuds Pro overall. Shell grip rounded, like a pebble, charging box box weight 42.6g, small and delicate.
I was also pleasantly surprised by the wearing of the Honor Earbuds 3 Pro this time. Compared to Huawei's Freebuds Pro, Glory is very easy to take out, from the inside to the outside of a gentle dial to remove the headset, wear more comfortable, almost no foreign body feeling, which gives a great praise.
My own use of the process, listening to music and doing other things, unknowingly two hours have passed, until the headset beeps indicate that the wearing time is too long, I did not notice that so much time has passed.
V. Range and charging
Glory Earbuds 3 Pro single headset battery capacity of 42mAh, charging case battery capacity of 410mAh. official nominal range, close active noise cancellation 6 hours, open active noise cancellation 4h. I also actually tested, in a relatively quiet environment, about 40% of the volume, three hours of the whole left ear remaining power 58, the right ear remaining power 51, and the official publicity life time Basically the same.
In terms of charging, Honor Earbuds 3 Pro has fast charging function, charging 35% in 5 minutes, which can bring the experience of charging 5 minutes and listening 2 hours, and the headphones with charging bin can achieve a maximum of about 24 hours of music playing life.
For wireless charging, Honor Earbuds 3 Pro only supports positive discharge wireless charging, i.e. indicator light up. Reverse placement can not be wirelessly charged, this is the same as Huawei headphones, from the design point of view, reasonable; from the point of view of use, the direction of the headset box should be confirmed before charging.
Six, the characteristic temperature measurement function
In today's recurring epidemic, Glory's innovative combination of temperature measurement and wireless headphones. The temperature difference value can be accurate to an error of ±0.3 degrees Celsius. It supports single and periodic temperature measurement, which can form a periodic body temperature change curve. In order to ensure the accuracy of temperature measurement, the headset does not directly measure the body temperature when just put on, there will be a prompt tone to indicate that the measurement will be made only after 5 minutes. Automatic measurement of body temperature every ten minutes interval and automatic generation of temperature change curve, easy for users to monitor health status, in the epidemic repeatedly at the moment, becomes very meaningful.
Overall, the Glory Earbuds 3 Pro retailed at $899 and debuted at $849 with a pricing that has exceeded expectations. This time, the product breaks my usual impression of Glory TWS products. Excellent sound quality and noise cancellation performance, range charging without shortcomings, although there are some minor flaws, but still a better TWS headset products. For glory cell phone users, can be considered a no-brainer level of purchase, for Huawei users, there is a shortage of adaptations, customer service said that the later will be adapted to make up for the pop-ups and other features, is also a product that can be started.
