What would have to happen to your car for you to deem it no longer safe for the road? At times we have to make due with what we have because of limited financial resources. You can't always predict when disaster will strike, and sometimes it happens two weeks before your next paycheck.
Take the first person in this article. They are driving down the road in their, admittedly older, car, when it starts to rain. This could be a major problem. Not because their tires are not great - they aren't, or because their brakes need to be changed - they do, but because their windshield wipers don't work.
Give credit where credit is due because these folks use some ingenuity and have a giant squeegee on hand to wipe off the water from the windshield while driving. Albeit at rather unsafe speeds considering the condition of the car.
