If your garage needs filling with classic hot rods and custom cars, a collection at the Barrett-Jackson Northeast 2019 auction could be exactly what you need.

All 48 cars in the ‘Vault Portfolio’ are being sold at no reserve at Barrett-Jackson events during 2019 and 2020. The first 14 cars from the enviable hoard will cross the block at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut.

We’ve picked a selection of the cars which caught our eye from the collection, and you could be the lucky owner when the hammer falls on Saturday June 29.

1937 Ford Custom Coupe

Chopped, swapped, and smoothed, this custom ‘37 Coupe now owes more to General Motors than it does Ford products. The ever-popular 350-cubic inch Chevrolet V-8 engine is beneath the hood, connected to a four-speed Turbo-Hydramatic transmission.

The fibreglass bodywork is finished in Corvette Victory Red paint, whilst the chassis features huge amounts of polished chrome underneath. A set of Billet Specialities wheels hide Wilwood brakes, and there is also a custom coilover suspension setup.

Like all the cars in the Vault Portfolio, this ‘37 Coupe was professionally built. The winner will receive extensive photography detailing the build process to keep.

1955 Ford Thunderbird Convertible

Although it might not be heavily customized, this first-generation Thunderbird has still undergone plenty of work. A thorough restoration has taken this car back to original condition, along with a number of modern additions.

Better air conditioning, upgraded headlights, a 12-volt battery system, electronic windscreen wipers, and a larger radiator are just some of the subtle tweaks. Power comes from a 292-cubic inch V-8 engine, with a three-speed manual transmission fitted.

The Goldenrod Yellow paintwork is matched to a two-tone yellow and black interior. A copy of the original bill of sale is supplied, along with service records dating back to 1985.

1951 Chevrolet 3100 Woody Panel Truck

Both practical and stylish, this Chevy ‘Advance Design’ truck wears wood trim over a metal van body. Subject to a complete restoration in 2012, the truck has remained in a private collection ever since.

All the chrome trim has been refreshed, but the interior has retained the wood trim in the cabin. The load area also features a set of neat original ‘carpenter drawers’ from when this Chevy had to work for a living.

A 235-cubic inch ‘Thriftmaster’ six-cylinder gasoline engine provides the horsepower, and a column-mounted three-speed manual transmission does the shifting.

1940 Ford Standard Coupe

Much like the Thunderbird, this classic Ford has been given plenty of attention to bring it back to original condition. A number of period-correct Bob Drake Reproductions parts have been fitted, whilst work has also been done to make it more usable.

A new 12-volt battery system aims to make life easier, as does the addition of a water temperature gauge to the dashboard. The 221-cubic inch Flathead V-8 engine has gained aluminum headers, intakes, and air cleaners.

This setup has been designed to improve cooling for the Flathead engine, but retains a stock look beneath the hood.

1932 Ford Hi-Boy Custom Coupe

Another hot rod Ford, and this ‘32 Coupe has had a substantial amount of work undertaken beneath the classic bodywork. The Chevy 350-cubic inch V-8 engine makes another appearance, with this car using a four-speed automatic Turbo 350 transmission.

A second-generation Ford Mustang supplies the front subframe, combined with custom coilovers all round for the suspension. Wilwood brakes and chrome Halibrand wheels are also part of the deal.

Air conditioning has been added for extra usability, whilst this ‘32 Ford also benefits from power steering. The interior is finished throughout in immaculate tan leather.

1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396

In case you want some added muscle with your hot rods and custom cars, this ‘70 Chevelle is also part of the Vault Portfolio collection.

Fully restored, this Chevelle has covered less than 50 miles since the work was completed. It means the Fathom Blue paint and Coated Ivory interior look brand new.

Still badged as a 396, the Chevelle now uses a 402-cubic inch V-8 engine with 375 horsepower. Also fitted is a four-speed Muncie M22 Rock Crusher manual transmission. It all makes for an impressive big-block GM muscle car.

1956 Buick Special Custom Coupe

Bigger certainly means better with this ‘56 Buick Special. Under the hood, a larger displacement version of the ‘Nailhead’ V-8 engine has been fitted, here in 425-cubic inch size. That means a big chunk of power and torque driving the rear wheels via an automatic transmission.

A set of 20-inch wire wheels give it a distinctive look, whilst the two-tone exterior is complemented by a red and black interior. Power steering has been fitted, along with a Vintage Air compressor to offer air conditioning.

1957 Chevrolet Bel Air

This is not just any restored Bel Air. Oh no, this car was subject to an extensive two-year frame-off restoration process, which left no bolt unturned. Sandblasted back to bare metal, this Bel Air was then repainted in Matador Red with India Ivory detailing.

The interior is also in excellent condition, with red and black trim, plus the addition of modern air conditioning to keep things cool.

A Super Turbo-Fire 283-cubic inch V-8 engine breathes through a pair of four-barrel carburettors. A Powerglide two-speed transmission is also fitted.

Barrett-Jackson’s Northeast 2019 sale will see a huge variety of collector cars and trucks going under the hammer. This includes the final production Chevrolet C7 Corvette being auctioned for charity.
