When you walk into a McDonald's and order your favourites, you might consider heeding some advice from someone who claims to works there.

The unnamed 'employee' has revealed a few simple hacks which he believes will help you get the best experience at the fast food chain.

Talking to The Sun Online, he said people should avoid ordering drinks with ice, and should always ask for no salt on their fries.

He said: "I would never get anything with ice in it. It’s not the water that is used to make the ice."

Rather, it was the machine used to make the ice, he claimed, which he alleged might not always be cleaned as often as it could be.

The man, who claimed to work at an Essex branch of McDonald's also offered advice on how to ensure your fries are as fresh as possible.

He claimed: "Order your chips without any salt because then we have to make a fresh batch of fries.

"We also have to clean out the tray that the fries are stored in to make sure no salt gets on them."

According to the Essex 'worker', food came out best just after peak times when the menus were changing over.

He added: "The peak times are eight and 10, 12 and two, and five and seven."

His final tip was about how the ingredients for the milkshakes and the ice cream were, he claimed, exactly the same.

He claimed the milkshake mix came in a sealed bag which was then poured into a machine.

"I just don’t see the point in paying for one or the other when they are literally made from the same thing."

A company spokesman told The Sun: "We encourage all of our crew to speak up if they have any concerns, offering formal and informal channels for issues to be raised.”

There will soon be 90 McDonald's restaurants in Wales, with plans for a new restaurant in the Fforestfach area of Swansea.
