This is the story of the 322nd real person we have told
My name is Fan Yuhu @Fan Yuhu Wandering Earth, born in Inner Mongolia in 1970.
After reading my story, you will definitely say that I am a pure man, I did all the things that men should do!
In 2013, after experiencing the double blow of failed movie investment and girlfriend breakup. With only 600 yuan, I drove a Shanghai D license plate SUV alone in order to find a wife and set off on a global adventure of no return. During the road trip abroad, I had the misfortune to roll over and had to return to China for a van with a Shanghai C license plate.
At that time, I did not speak English, no guide, and it was the first time I went abroad. 3 years, I came back from the dead again and again, drove through 78 countries on six continents, ran 200,000 kilometers, and successfully challenged the new Guinness World Record for the first person to drive around the world. What is even more mind-boggling is that I am still a lung cancer patient!
The reason I can run so well should be inherited from my grandfather and mother's genes. Grandfather's ancestral home is Hequ, Shanxi, his old man was a goat herder, but also told books, fortune telling, and also worked as a bookkeeper, and later arrived in Inner Mongolia to drift around. When my mother was pregnant with me, in order to escape from the pursuit, there is no fixed place to stay.
I have long carried a wandering gene in my bones, and I was not destined to be a peaceful person.
My mother said I had my first experience of running away from home when I was 4 years old and miraculously came back on my own 2 days later. At that time, the family did not rush around looking for me, as if they knew I could come back on my own.
At the age of 16, because of special admiration for Chairman Mao, I imitated the Chairman to walk on foot to study the society of Anyuan. At that time, I probably walked through more than 30 cities and spent more than a month, and finally returned home safely.
At the age of 19, I bicycled to Kaifeng Drama Troupe to learn acting, and then bicycled again to Beijing Film Academy to learn directing in the evening course half a year later, and then embarked on a journey to the north.
I have always loved watching movies since I was a child, and after studying directing, I became even more determined in my dream of making movies. In the 1990s, I was involved in making many movies, such as the internship assistant director of "Farewell My Concubine" and the internship assistant director of "The Lion King". In order to make the movie, I sold two houses, but in the end, due to various reasons, the preparation for the shooting could only end in failure. At this time, my girlfriend of 8 years also proposed to break up. I suffered a double blow and was in a lot of pain.
During that time, I was depressed, sad, and even desperate for life. Unexpectedly, a movie saved me and also pointed out the direction for my future life.
That day, I accidentally watched a movie called "Ghostbusters" and was inspired by its behind-the-scenes story. It was shot by a group of newcomers, who relied only on DV and cell phones to shoot out a small low-budget production, but after the release of the film unexpectedly won 100 million dollars at the box office, which attracted a lot of attention at the time.
A bright idea, why don't I try it? So I decided to change the name of the failed movie "Easy Rider" to "Journey to the West". I want to write, direct, act and shoot a live-action version of "Journey to the West", but also to go on a blind date around the world to find a good wife!
After some searching, I found that in the history of the world's self-driving around the world, whether foreigners, Chinese, or overseas Chinese, there is no record of one person and one car driving around six continents continuously at one time. I decided to become the creator of this Guinness World Record.
On August 11, 2013, I hit the road with only $600. Maybe I had a goal and a dream in mind, or maybe I was ignorant and fearless about the road ahead, I set off despite the opposition of anyone around me! At that time, I could not speak a word of English, not to mention that I did not find a partner to go with me, and I did not even know that I had to apply for a visa before leaving the country.
No matter, at this time, no difficulty can defeat me. That day I drove from Shanghai, alone, out of Manzhouli, Inner Mongolia to Russia.
When I arrived in Russia, I was introduced to many Russian girlfriends by my local Chinese compatriots. They were very beautiful, blond and blue-eyed, with beautiful bodies. However, some of them were divorced with children, some of them didn't see me, and some of them didn't want to live with me back in China. So, in the end, I can only say that there is fate but no separation. After all, at that time I was also young, inevitably high-minded and arrogant some, for looking for a wife this thing do not want to settle.
I did not stay too much, the end of the world, ah, patting the dust on my body, I continued on the road again. However, I didn't go far, I flipped the car.
It was a rainy day, the road was slippery, I just wanted to pull over when the car suddenly skidded out of control, and then rolled over into a deep ditch on the side of the road. I was so scared that I thought it was the end!
Luckily, there were some locals nearby who were working on the project, and they were kind enough to help me turn the car over and then tow it up. Later, I had the car towed to a garage and it cost me over $10,000 to fix it. Looking back on the week I spent in Russia, it was a very bad week.
First, a stone hit the windshield, cracked, then suffered a rollover, and then found the trunk lock broken, and later when refueling, only to see that the headliner joint had broken at some point, so we had to find a place to weld again!
That week, it seemed like all the bad luck was dying to come at me and try to annihilate me. Similar accidents have happened two or three times, every time I think of it, I will be afraid, but I am a tough person, I carried through!
Unfortunately, I didn't carry my black SUV through, it was already built to fail. In desperation, I returned in 2016 for a white passenger and cargo car. It was a little bigger than the previous one, and I am more than one meter tall, so I can still stretch my legs and be more comfortable sleeping in this car. Driving a white dragon horse with a Shanghai C license plate, I went back on the road.
Along the way, I have endured so much aggravation and hardship. For example, I often had to go to customs, border crossings, immigration and other departments to get things done. Some countries would specifically make it difficult for people to find excuses to ask for tips, and the fact that I didn't speak English made communication between us very difficult and would take a month or two of time and effort.
However, there are two sides to the story. During this period, I stopped rushing just for the sake of rushing. I learned to slow down, to appreciate the scenery along the way with my heart, to experience different and exotic places, and to record the smiling faces and stories of different skin tones. I shared them on a social platform of 100,000 people to tell everyone what I saw, heard and thought.
Everywhere I went, I was basically introduced to girlfriends by fellow Chinese. During my years of travel around the world, I've been on hundreds of blind dates abroad, and I've met women of all colors. It was easiest in Africa when I was on a blind date, as long as I was willing to stay, they were willing to marry me. However, I didn't want to terminate my goals and dreams. So, in the end, it didn't work out.
Among other things, when I was in Nigeria, I fell in love with a girl at first sight, only to have her cheat me out of more than $2,000. At that time I was resting on the roadside and she came to sell a local fruit. The first time I saw her, I had a feeling that my heart was pounding and I felt love coming on.
So I bought all her fruit and asked for contact information. I also got help translating and tried to ask her to marry me. I didn't realize by looking at her that she was only 18 years old. In Africa, many girls are married and have children at the age of 12 because they mature and develop earlier.
Maybe I was overwhelmed by love, I momentarily forgot that Nigeria is known as a big country of liars and is known for its ability to fool people far and wide. I also didn't think that the 18-year-old girl I just met would be willing to ask me for money.
At first she said she didn't have a passport and needed money to get one, so I foolishly gave it to her. Then she said she needed to see her parents and that she could only go back to China with me if they agreed. I had to go home with her to see her parents and gave them some money.
After spending a total of more than two thousand before and after, she ended up saying she didn't want to go back to her country with me. At that moment it dawned on me that I had been cheated.
In Africa, I have not only suffered emotional damage, but also experienced ninety-nine years of hardship. We all know that Africa's weather is hot, living conditions and medical conditions are relatively poor, often outbreak of malaria cholera and other diseases.
I had two or three sudden unexplained high fevers, which I thought at the time were symptoms of lung cancer. The doctor thought it was a malaria infection because the symptoms were similar. However, I know my body and my father and my second brother both died of late stage lung cancer. I must have been too, but I just didn't go to the hospital to confirm the diagnosis because I was afraid. If I had been diagnosed, I'm afraid I would have been scared to death of myself in less than a week, just like they were.
In the face of cancer, sometimes psychological effects work better than medication. Without a good mindset, this hurdle cannot be crossed. I was not ready to face the confirmation result from the doctor, so I chose to avoid it.
In addition to the emotional and physical trauma, I was also subjected to a robbery. It was a rainy day and my car got stuck in a mud hole. The whole road was muddy. I wouldn't have known how to cope if it weren't for a couple of black men who helped lift the car. I wanted to thank them, but then at night, something terrible happened.
They showed their animalistic side. Each of them had a big knife with a cane banana in his hand, and two of them put the knife on my neck and raided me of all my money. Not satisfied with this, they gibbered and wondered what they were conspiring about. When they were not paying attention, I slammed on the gas and escaped.
When I finally got out of Africa, everyone said to me, its a miracle you got out of Africa alive! In fact, only I know the trials and tribulations inside, many life and death moments in this life do not want to experience again.
Having traveled to different places, met people of all colors, and tasted sweet and sour, I have found the fun of life. Sometimes like a strong white wine, spicy enough, exciting and lip-smacking. Sometimes like the fragrant tea, sweet, pure and soft and endless aftertaste.
Although the road ahead is long, life and death are uncertain, but I still did not give up. For the sake of the dream in my heart, I continued to measure the world with tire after tire lap.
When I left, I only had 600 yuan on my body. In order to eat, gas, I began to sell body advertising, do live D purchase. In short, it is to find ways to get money to keep yourself alive. These years a total income of about 3 million, every day there will be hundreds or thousands of dollars into the account.
Some women thought I was rich and came to meet me on a blind date. However, after they really understand, they fled. I eat and live in the car every day, often hungry and full, if the car is parked on the roadside, but also fear. This kind of homeless life, not anyone can accept.
Having been rejected more than once, I've also thought about it. Hundreds of blind dates have not been successful, what else to look forward to? So I stopped obsessing about finding a wife, and let it all go. Little did I know that fate was already there waiting for me.
When I returned to Asia again, I was stuck in Malaysia because of the epidemic. I had no choice but to stay in Malaysia for a while longer. If it wasn't for this time, I probably wouldn't have met Zhu Xin Yi! We both met online. I later learned that she also likes to travel and had been to several nearby countries.
The first day we met, we were together. It was a great feeling to see each other in the right way. We have been together for a year and a half and have never been apart. Because of the epidemic, we couldn't go far away, so we ran three laps around Malaysia. Almost every day we moved, but she also adapted to this life, never complained, and could put up with my bad temper.
She does not have high material requirements, unlike other women who want to buy lipstick, bags or designer clothes. We live a simple life, and although we are sometimes lacking in material things, we are extremely content in our spiritual world.
My next step is to take her back to China for a road show and a book. I also want to find a post-production team to work with to edit the 3,000 hours of video footage I've shot for ten years. Then continue to drive around the world to shoot the remaining 120 countries, the challenge to shoot all the countries of the world new Guinness World Record.
To this day, my Chinese dream has come true. From Asia, through Europe, Africa, North America, South America, Oceania, and finally back to Asia. I not only drove around the world, found a wife abroad, but also published a real-life version of "Wandering Earth".
I would like to thank all my friends who care about me, you are my motivation to continue on the road. Maybe we will meet again in the near future.
