Born to a corporate manager mother Bernice and a janitor and metal fabricator father Boris Lawrence Henson in Southeast Washington, D.C., Taraji P. After graduating from Oxon Hill High School in Oxon Hill, Maryland, she enrolled at the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University where she planned on studying electrical engineering.
