Preface
A mention of Vivo's S series, we always associate with selfie, beauty phone, I have also used Vivo S7e, the impression of Vivo S series in thin and light, beauty, performance can be useful, but low with high price.
I have to say, Vivo's S series has always been the parochial student of the Vivo family, more suitable for a specific group of people who like to take selfies, but this time the Vivo S15 Pro has changed, it started to develop from a single parochial student to a comprehensive development, not just satisfied with taking pictures, but a more balanced existence, which instead aroused my interest in this generation of Vivo S15 Pro.
Appearance - debut is the peak, the face is always productive
In the design of this piece, Vivo has never lost, young, lively, but without losing a little light mature style.
The one I got my hands on is the Flare Black version, with an AG frosted glass back cover that highlights the understated calmness of the feature, and a bit of starlight mapped in the fine back cover texture, especially in the sunlit arc.
The camera on the back continues the previous cloud step design with two large cameras plus a very small camera with a ring of mirrors around it to reflect my face, which can be used as a mirror if necessary, but it is easy to get fingerprints. This design makes the back of the Vivo S15 Pro both simple and recognizable at the same time. Unlike its predecessor X80's rounded sky, it also has the design features of the Vivo S family, which is still a pleasing design that won't make consumers feel too rusty and uncomfortable.
Although the Vivo S15 Pro has a plastic frame, the transition between the front and rear corners is relatively rounded, and the black color is even more difficult to detect the presence of plastic, instead enhancing its unity. The right side concentrates on the power and volume keys, while the bottom is the sim card slot, Type-C charging port and speaker while the front features a centered perforated screen.
vivo this time in the appearance of the bold abandoned the previous front dual camera, bangs screen, and choose a new family-style design centered on the hole, which is a very bold attempt for vivo's S series, after all, the S series has been the main front photography, but from the X70 for the market, this design is obviously more successful, consumers are also more willing to accept, S15 Pro change is also a downward spiral of the market.
Experience - A well-rounded student without bias, a new attempt
Experience is a very comprehensive and general statement, and this experience presupposes that consumers know enough about the hardware of the phone.
Take a look at the hardware configuration of the Vivo S15 Pro.

Screen
Screen display is an important point of daily use, and the three most critical elements of the screen is: clarity, color, brightness.
With P3 wide color gamut and 1500nit peak maximum brightness, the Vivo S15 Pro is not missing any of these key indicators. The Samsung E5 is completely the benchmark in the industry, and the display is nothing more than a different tuning for each family.
The viewing experience can be very good. Comparing with iPhone 12 Pro Max, Vivo S15 Pro's color palette is more pleasing to the eyes.
The clarity shows most of the daily text and images without any problem, and the method does not have obvious jaggedness. With the new native fonts of OriginOS, the display fonts are still relatively soft and comfortable to read.
I tried in the outdoor maximum brightness, in a large light ratio environment, manually stimulate the highest brightness, the picture display is very clear, daily use in the outdoors is no problem at all.
Finally, the refresh rate, now basically the mainstream 2k-3k grade phones on the market have been on the 120Hz refresh rate, and Vivo S15 Pro supports 60Hz-120Hz refresh rate intelligent switching, the experience gap between the two is still very obvious, 120Hz more smooth, and 60Hz more power saving, in the case of insufficient power to open 60Hz, adhere to the power to have When there is enough power to switch to 120Hz, the experience is better. Unfortunately, less DC dimming, but I did not feel the obvious discomfort, for me is still acceptable.
Imaging Systems
The image system of Vivo S15 Pro is still a bit interesting, Vivo will IMX766V down to Vivo S15 Pro as the main camera, and equipped with a new generation of "Hummingbird anti-shake" OIS, and combined with their own ah AI algorithm, so that users take pictures to reduce the chances of paste film, greatly increasing the success rate of taking a clear photo.
About the ultra-wide angle I think the upgrade is quite big, from the previous 800W upgrade to 1200W, the most obvious upgrade is the image quality upgrade, record more details, so let's see how the performance first?
The final imaging performance of the ultra-wide angle is still quite unexpected, without zooming in, the camera records quite a lot of angles, the field of view is wide, the color and white balance performance is relatively stable, no obvious problems. But if you zoom in to see, the picture distortion control is quite reasonable, the edge of the image quality although there is a decline, but the overall perception will not feel too much distortion. However, the brightness of the picture is slightly insufficient, the sense of smearing is relatively strong, the record of life is completely adequate.
The main camera can be said to be a complete change, with the overall brightness of the picture at hand, the details are very prominent, Vivo shot the picture very pleasing to the eye, slightly higher saturation, but very comfortable. There is no dead black or overexposure in the picture, especially in the shadow part, the transition is more natural.
However, in low light conditions, the main camera will turn on night mode depending on the ambient lighting conditions, which can of course be turned off manually. The speed of shooting is still fast, the highlights are somewhat suppressed, but not enough too good, strong light is sometimes still overexposed, but the dead black part of the rescue is better, the original dead black part are able to see clearer details. But the night color display is sometimes strange, like the warm environment color will be a little light, will be a little white, I do not know if I did not upgrade the system version of the reason, I hope the follow-up can be improved.
Next look at the telephoto section, as it is not equipped with a telephoto function, it has a digital crop and a 2X digital zoom in the camera.
The 2X image is desirable, with a decent sense of compression and a slight loss of image quality. vivo S15 Pro supports digital zoom of up to 20X, but looking back after shooting will pause for 2-3 seconds and then see a very strong smearing of the image, like the lines of the building have been very blurred. Personally, I suggest that daily photos or the highest choice of 2X on it, even 5X can also be seen more obvious algorithm and smear traces.
But the Vivo S15 Pro has a lot of fun features inside, like auto macro, which users who like to take pictures of flowers and plants can try, and like follow focus panning, which produces a very dynamic picture. The time slow door and film teleprompter are perfect for those who take vlogs but can't always remember the words.
The front main camera 3200W pixel is good, in the selfie this piece is vivo's masterpiece, the lady's skin complexion, beauty effect, eyes look very natural, selfie has been a see to remove the flaws on the face, look beautiful. But compared to the previous generations have front soft light, in low light photography, the effect of the screen fill light is quite a bit worse, and also some noise, it can be said that there are gains and losses!
Performance Experience
Since Qualcomm Snapdragon's 8gen1 and 888 became unstoppable fire dragons, everyone has had high hopes for MediaTek's Tiangui series, and the Tiangui 8100 has lived up to those expectations.
Let's run a score first! This score can shoot up to the forefront in front of a bunch of mid-range machines, but ultimately it's all about the experience.
I don't play many handheld games, so the game part is for reference only.
Peaceful elite can completely open to the highest quality and frame rate, frame rate is 90 fps, but after 18 minutes of play began to lock 60 fps, although the back has been more stable, basically in the 58 fps up and down, not much fluctuation.
However, the original god is the challenge, the frame rate is steady at 59 fps at the beginning, when running the map and group battle, the frame rate began to drop, the lowest only 43 fps, but overall there is no significant lag, 26 minutes after the frame rate basically fluctuates in 37 fps - 43 fps up and down. In this regard, the Vivo S15 Pro is still relatively conservative because of its positioning.
This time the phone's heat is also up, the best summer on a cooling back clip.
Charging & Range
This time Vivo S15 Pro can be said to have given me a big surprise, charging directly with a dual-cell 80W ultra-fast flash charge.
I actually tested it and it only took 37 minutes to go from 2% charge to full charge, which is basically a full charge over lunch. If you encounter a very urgent situation, charging 15 minutes to charge half of the power, the use of an afternoon is absolutely no problem.
Continuity I simulate the use of daily users, 120Hz high brush, automatic brightness, volume 50%, Wi-Fi at home, 4G outside, Bluetooth always on. I used WeChat, bilibili, NetEase cloud music, taking photos and recording videos throughout the day. When I got home, I found that 43% of the battery was left after a day of moderate use, so it was not a big problem to survive the day.
OringinOS system
The system is often the most core feature of a cell phone manufacturer, and Vivo has received a lot of positive feedback from users since it transformed from FuntouchOS to MicroOriginOS.
First of all, the UI was completely redrawn, completely unable to find a bit of the original shadow, which is the most attractive point for me. Daily use is not too difficult to get started, but there are some bugs, and some habits need to adapt.
Its system ease of use and maturity is still very high, and the icons can be enlarged and reduced at will, the degree of customizability is high, and there are a variety of rich fonts and wallpapers, it looks full of vitality. There are also things like fingerprint ah, screen off, animation effects can be adjusted, and there are things like atomic parts, although many apps have been adapted and optimized, but there are still many apps that are not adapted, it looks rather abrupt.
At present, there are only a few mainstream cell phone manufacturers, and the maturity of each system is already very high. From my personal point of view, I think Vivo has made a lot of efforts to optimize the system, overturning the original system and redesigning it, which shows that Vivo's thinking is very correct.
Summary
When I used the Vivo S15 Pro for a while, I felt it went from being a partier to being balanced, and while that's a good direction, it hasn't quite lived up to my expectations as an online user, and I have to seriously spit it out in the end.
The first is its price positioning, although vivo S15 Pro performance pile of material is very adequate, but the overall configuration is worse than the X80 a lot of meaning, the price is actually not much worse.
Next is the image system, the rear camera main camera is very good, ultra-wide angle moderate, but 200W black and white camera is a pity, give a 500W portrait lens or 800W telephoto lens are more practical than this. On the front camera, this generation cancelled the soft light, in order to continue the family design and unity, low light selfie instead of down.
That said, this generation of S15 Pro hardware configuration is indeed more sincere, the appearance is not bad, very recognizable, thin and comfortable grip, good battery life, and the top Samsung E5 screen, although the system optimization is a long way to go, but I think if you need a comprehensive strength of a more balanced thin and light phone, vivo S15 Pro is still worth considering.
