Traveling between the twin towers of Damascus
In Malaysia's capital city of Kuala Lumpur, traditional Malay village life stands next to the 21st century skyscrapers of the Twin Towers, where shoppers move between wet food markets and air-conditioned shopping malls.
The city was shaped by indigenous Malays, Chinese prospectors, Indian immigrants and British colonists, each leaving an indelible mark on its history and a fascinating blend of local cultural traditions.

Like the silver rockets in the Flash Gordon TV series, the Twin Towers represent Kuala Lumpur's takeoff from a shantytown of tin miners to a 21st century metropolis.
Even though the completion date dates back to 1998, the gleaming tower with its stainless steel outer layer designed by Argentine designer Cesar Bailey (as the headquarters of Malaysia's national oil and gas company) remains a symbol of contemporary Kuala Lumpur.
At nearly 452 meters tall, the 88-story Twin Towers are the tallest twin towers in the world, with an octagonal base that mimics an arabesque pattern. The Twin Towers are especially memorable at night when the lights are on.

KL Tower
Although not as tall as the Petronas Twin Towers, the 421-meter Kuala Lumpur Tower rises from the top of Coffee Mountain and is perfect for taking in the city views. Surrounded by a small patch of pristine rainforest, this towering spire is the fourth tallest communications tower in the world.
The top sphere (whose shape is inspired by the Malaysian toy gyroscope) houses the revolving restaurant, the 276-meter-high indoor viewing platform, and the most exciting 300-meter-high open-air platform, which can only be accessed when weather conditions permit.
This dense lowland loblolly pine forest is called Kuala Lumpur Forest Ecological Park and covers 9.37 hectares adjacent to the Kuala Lumpur Tower, with a towering new canopy walkway not to be missed. This is the first protected jungle in Malaysia (since 1906) and the park is commonly known as "Bukit Nanas" (Coffee Mountain).

Once one of the largest trading ports in Southeast Asia, Melaka's Chinatown was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008, and the city has since become one of Malaysia's most popular tourist destinations, and has seen a boom in its development.
Chinatown
Chinatown is the center of Malacca City and the best place to visit. Once known for its antique stores, JIn Hang Jebat, the central street of Chinatown, is now home to many stores and restaurants selling clothing and handicrafts.

This charming museum is housed in an old Chinese house in Chinatown, which is decorated like a typical 19th century Batu-Nyonya house.
Entering this traditional native Chinese home is like stepping back in time, where you can learn about the social customs of the time - when women had to hide behind chic partition walls when guests were visiting. Guided tours are the highlight of the museum, and they tell stories of the past with a sense of humor unique to Batu-Nyonya.

Savor a charming city cocktail
Take three distinctive ancient cultures and native and colonial architecture and shake them together for centuries, add a rapidly developing tourist landscape as a garnish, and you get a fascinating urban cocktail - Georgetown.
Since its inscription as a United Nations World Heritage Site in 2008, George Town has been the scene of a cultural preservation boom that continues to this day, transforming the city's unique shophouses into small museums, charming boutique hotels and trendy cafes.
However, perhaps the greatest prize of this adventure is ultimately the food - George Town is the culinary capital of Malaysia (if not Southeast Asia).

The building was supervised by Hakka merchant Zhang Bishi. He left China penniless as a young man and eventually built a huge financial empire throughout Southeast Asia, earning himself two titles - "Rockefeller of the East" and "The Last of the Red Roof Merchants ".
With 38 rooms and 220 windows, this magnificent "Blue House" is designed in an East-West style with shutters, Art Nouveau stained glass, and exquisite floor tiles, presenting a rare look at the mixed architectural style prized by the wealthy Straits Chinese. Its distinctive blue hue (popular in Georgetown) is based on indigo blue paint.
Visit Kuching
A kaleidoscope of various cultural, craft and culinary rendezvous
Kuching is Borneo's trendiest and most sophisticated city, combining a quaint old town, a fragrant riverfront, great food at all price points and a trendy nightclub on par with London.
In Malay, the word "Kuching" means "cat". Although it is a coincidence, the city has fully exploited the full value of this homophonic phenomenon. They have labeled the capital of Sarawak as the "Cat City" and have beautified the cityscape by erecting a number of incredibly fancy cat sculptures.
The real attraction for tourists is the surrounding natural landscape, which can usually be visited by day trips. In the early morning, look for the tracks of semi-wild orangutans or catch a glimpse of a giant king flower; at sunset, take a cruise to the South China Sea and look for proboscis monkeys and wild crocodiles along the coast while enjoying fresh seafood and refreshing fiddleheads.

Asam Laksa

Chicken with sprouts (Ayam Tauge)
The tender boiled chicken is served with Ipoh's filling bean sprouts and rice (the rice is cooked in chicken broth) or a bowl of rice noodles. This dish is probably the most representative of Ipoh's cuisine.
Jendol Ice (Cendol)
The city's signature dessert is coconut milk filled with short, delicate strips of mung bean powder, sweetened with Malacca's famous palm sugar, and topped with shaved ice.

Enjoy the ultimate underwater adventure park
Pulau sipadan, the jewel of the Semporna archipelago, is home to some of the world's most colorful marine life, which uses the island's sea cliffs as its most luxurious abode.
A wide variety of marine fish, mollusks and reptiles, both common and rare species, can be found here.
These marine creatures are so colorful that they use almost all the colors of the world. They are born, play, hunt and eat, and the lucky divers get to dance with them on the ocean floor.
But when it comes to snorkeling, there is nowhere better than the amazing Pulau Perhentian. The waters are clear and blue, the surrounding waters are full of colorful marine life, and coral reefs are located in the shallow waters.
For most of the time, you can simply snorkel inside the breakwater of Long Beach and see a veritable rainbow of fish.
Langkawi
Relaxing vacation in the "Pearl of Kedah
Since 2008, Pulau Langkawi's crystal clear waters, clean beaches and unspoiled forests have earned the island the official title of "Permata Kedah" (Pearl of Kedah).
As a duty-free island, Langkawi's wine is cheap and exudes a bit of a party atmosphere. There are also plenty of kid-friendly activities on the island, making it an ideal place for a family outing.

Jellyfish Warning!
Jellyfish are sometimes found off the coast of Langkawi. Although jellyfish stings can be painful, they are mostly harmless. However, there have been rare reports of potentially fatal box jellyfish appearing here. If you are stung, keep still and wash the wound with seawater.
Note: It is no longer recommended to treat jellyfish stings with vinegar, and you should also avoid washing the wound with alcohol or urine. If the sting is severe or if you have difficulty breathing, you should seek immediate medical attention.

Embrace nature at Malaysia's largest mountain resort
Misty mountains, Tudor architecture, 4WDs, muffins, strawberries and tea plantations - all these seemingly unrelated things come together in this un-Southeast Asian tourist destination.
Activities such as self-guided hikes, nature group tours and agritourism make the Cameron Highlands one of Malaysia's more rewarding and accessible destinations.

The orangutan's natural habitat
The orangutan is a unique primate: muscular and graceful, with raw strength and restraint, but also very likeable. Their glittering eyes hide intelligence and sometimes a touch of sadness.
The Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre takes in orangutans who have lost their mothers or been injured and helps them return to nature.
There are currently 60 to 80 orangutans living in the reserve. The outdoor feeding ground is a major attraction and is only a two-minute walk from the feeding platform.
Mount Kinabalu
Overlooking the city at this first UN World Heritage Site in Malaysia
This granite mountain, the highest in Malaysia and representative of the main geographical features of northern Borneo, is regarded by the locals as a gathering place for spirits and has exhausted countless challengers.
In terms of height, Mt Kinabalu, at 4,095 meters, may not be that high compared to the world's major mountains such as the Himalayas, but it is no easy feat to climb Malaysia's first UN World Heritage Site.
You can breathe in the refreshing air of Sabah's high mountains and enjoy the most free spirited moments. If you're lucky, you'll be able to look out over the Philippines from the peak; even if it's cloudy, it's not a deal-breaker, as hiking is exciting enough in itself.

Thaipusam of the Black Wind Cave
Visit Malaysia's National Treasures at the Dabbosun Festival
This huge limestone cave complex is Malaysia's national treasure and is always bustling with flowers and people, so visit Batu Caves during the festive season if possible. The biggest celebration is the Taboosun Festival (mid-January to mid-February), when thousands of devotees gather at this huge limestone rock formation a few kilometers north of Kuala Lumpur.
The 43-meter-tall Murugan guards the 272 steps leading to the main cave; a group of lively macaques also gather here as if they were the temple's guardians, but not only are they unafraid of visitors, they sometimes sneak up on them unexpectedly.
