A unique golf and vacation resort is taking shape outside of Saskatoon at Blackstrap Lake that will offer year-round activities and amenities.
The Lakeside Golf Resort and Event Centre is just 25 minutes from Saskatoon and is designed as a master-planned community with cottages set on half-acre lots. Activities will include boating, swimming, golfing, fishing and in winter feature cross-country skiing, skating, snowmobiling, ice hockey, plus a full-service restaurant and bar, spa, pro-shop, four-season pool, gym and event space.
“We are bringing residents the lifestyle that you typically only get to experience on vacations and holidays, and it’s very accessible to a broad spectrum of the market because your cottage can earn rental revenue while you’re not using it,” says Brandon Moore, Lakeside’s operations manager. Blackstrap Lake has long been a favourite vacation destination for Saskatchewaners.
Saskatchewan has numerous lakes — particularly in the more northern areas of the boreal forest, but this resort is easily accessible for residents of both Saskatoon and Regina.
The 9-hole golf course is designed by Lakeside’s owner and developer Dave Ferguson, a former Ontario Golf Club Champion. With three additional tee deck options, the course is ideal for both beginners and scratch golfers.
When owners are not using their cottages, they can enter them into the rental pool. Phase 1 of the Lakeside Estates has sold out, and another 58 lots will be available. There are several styles and sizes of cottages, starting with a two-bedroom, 960-square-foot model priced at $298,000.
