There is a Baoshan District in Shanghai, but that "Baoshan" is a fake.
During the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty, the people of the city of Pingjiang were gathered together to build a mountain of earth by hand, which was erected at the mouth of the Yangtze River as a navigational marker.
Later, Emperor Yongle of Ming Dynasty wrote the inscription "Imperial Treasure Mountain Monument", hence the name "Treasure Mountain".
And eight treasure mountain mountain, that is the real mountain, belongs to the western mountain range, especially this mountain, there are really "eight treasure".
Before becoming a revolutionary cemetery, Babaoshan was a resource-based mine, abounding in eight types of clay minerals, including horse tooth stone, chalk, green ash, laterite, crucible, yellow slurry, slate and sandstone, which appear colorful and spirited from the name alone.
The specific uses of these eight babies need not be described, in short, are raw materials for industry and construction.
The name "Eight Treasures" because of its mineral deposits is just one of the expressions.
It is said that a long time ago, Mount Babao was not called by this name, it was called "Black Mountain".
Black Mountain is not high, but it is also considered spiritual, so it has become a place to seek immortality and monastic retreat, and a large number of idealistic and pursuing cultivation enthusiasts gathered here.
We worked hard, day and night to communicate with the heavens, and finally, the heavens saw the descent of eight treasures, respectively, the golden ox, golden horse, golden chicken, golden mill, golden mill, golden beans, golden dustpan and golden colander.
These eight golden treasures are hidden at the foot of the mountain, and if you find one of them, you will be able to soar by day and become immortal in the flesh.
It is also for this reason that the name "Babaoshan" was created.
Although this statement is very mysterious, but I think "eight golden treasures" than "eight kinds of treasure", more reliable.
Because the gold is more affordable and grounded, full of legendary models, very much in line with everyone's psychological expectations.
As the highest specification national cemetery in China, it is a kind of grief and recognition for the ashes to go into Babaoshan after a century.
This can be seen from the first batch of 18 martyrs' bones buried in Babaoshan.
On October 18, 1927, based on the information provided by the traitors, Zhang Zuolin ordered the purge of the Northern Bureau and arrested a large number of revolutionary comrades, including Wang Haibo, the head of the Northern Bureau.
After nearly a month of torture, on November 11, 18 comrades, led by Wang Haibo, were brutally murdered at the Arrow Tower outside the Anding Gate in Beijing.
After the founding of New China, the revolutionary cemetery in Babaoshan was prepared and the first batch of 18 martyrs, including Wang Haibo, were buried in Babaoshan.
At that time, more than 20 years had passed since the martyr's death, for which a search beyond time and space was launched.
After repeatedly checking and confirming the archives, the remains of the 18 martyrs were finally found in the area east of the arrow tower outside the Anding Gate.
Spanning more than 20 years, the search for the remains of martyrs, do not abandon, do not give up, remember every drop of blood, engraved every wisp of the soul, this process, if made into a movie, certainly more shocking than the Hollywood "Saving Private Ryan", more heartbreaking.
Today, not only the revolutionary martyrs, but also patriots from all walks of life and scientists who have made outstanding contributions to the development of the country, as well as many international friends, lie at Mount Babao.
For example, Agnes Smedley, an American female journalist, was the first to report the Xi'an Incident to the world in an unbiased manner.
On May 6, 1950, Smedley died in Oxford, England, and according to her will, her ashes were returned to China for burial in the Babaoshan Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery.
There was also the American doctor Ma Hyde, who was the first foreigner to be naturalized as a citizen of the People's Republic of China.
Originally from Lebanon, Ma Hyde came to China in 1933 and joined the Chinese Workers and Peasants Red Army. During the Anti-Japanese War and the Liberation War, he treated a large number of wounded members of the Eighth Route Army and the Liberation Army.
On October 3, 1988, Ma Hyde died in Beijing after a long illness and was subsequently buried in Babaoshan.
American woman writer Strang, Vietnamese Hoang Van Huan, German doctor Hans Müller, etc., they all rest here for a long time ......
Generally speaking, where there is a subway station, there is a shopping district, regardless of the size, in short, a strong commercial atmosphere.
Babaoshan is definitely an exception.
