So what does heaven really look like?
Through the clouds, in front of the large snow-capped mountains glowing gold, surrounded by dense forests, high and low villages with smoke, and the ringing of crisp bells in your ears, is this what heaven looks like in your mind?

After all, there are 10,000 Hamlets in the minds of a hundred readers, and everyone's definition of paradise is different, but for trekkers, the Rainbows, hidden deep in the Meili Snow Mountain, is their paradise.

What kind of place is it?
Yuebang is located in Deqin County, Diqing Prefecture, Yunnan Province, and belongs to the middle section of the Nu Mountain Range in the Great Transverse Rift, which is in the world-famous "Three Rivers" area of Jinsha, Lancang and Nu rivers.
As soon as you see words like Great Transverse Range and Three Rivers Region, you know this place is not simple.
In Tibetan, Yuebang means "secret book of Buddhist scriptures", and it is said that there is a secret book hidden here that can open the door to one hundred pure lands of Buddha.
I prefer the other statement to this legend. Its name is related to the local climate, as it is located at the foot of the snow-capped mountains, and is constantly subject to the drifting of melting snow drops, which are like rain falling down, hence the name Rainbows.
Of course there is much more to say about the name, but it is also these droplets of melting snow that nourish the land and make the vegetation flourish here, with all kinds of rare and exotic trees growing wild.
The dense primeval forest is just an appetizer for your first glimpse of the rainbows, and as you enter the valley over the 3700-meter South Contention Pass, the horizon opens up.
From the lush primeval forest at the foot of the mountain at about 3,000 meters to the snow-capped peak at more than 6,000 meters, a natural three-dimensional vertical natural belt is reflected in front of you, and you can enjoy the different seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter.
But these are just the "base views" in the Great Transverse Range. If you want to unlock the secrets of the rainbows known as paradise, you have to go deeper.

Three very distinctive snow-capped mountains
Tourists going to the Yuebang trekking, usually choose to stay overnight at the Feilai Temple first, which is an excellent opportunity to enjoy the sunrise of Meili Snow Mountain and the full view of the snow mountain, directly opposite the Yuebang village, but at this time it is hidden in the deep mountains, you can not yet see.
Due to the special geographical environment, there are only two routes to enter the Yubang to Xidang and Ninong, Xidang route needs to go over the 3700m Nanjing Pass, Ninong route is in the treacherous Ninong Grand Canyon.
Into the rain avalanche, means closer and closer to the snow mountain, you will appear in front of you three huge "snow mountain ice cream" - Jiva Renan peak (five crown peak), Maengtsem (Goddess peak), Kawaigbo.
Although it is only 6740 meters above sea level, the aura it gives is far beyond its own altitude, so it is no wonder that it is the top of the eight sacred mountains in Tibet.
Its beauty is also recognized worldwide, and in the 1930s it was called "the most beautiful mountain in the world" by the American explorer Rock in the National Geographic magazine.
In addition to the famous Kawaigbo, you will encounter two other impressive snow-capped mountains in Yuebang.
Maengtseum, the Tibetan language for the sea goddess, also known as the goddess peak, the legend is the wife of Kavagbo. Once known as one of the most beautiful peaks in China, it has been on the cover of China National Geographic not only once because of its beautiful lines.
Jiva Renan Peak, also known as Five Crown Peak, is as unforgettable as its mountain name.
It is located on the north side of Maengtseum Peak, and this unusually shaped snow-capped mountain and the divine female peak will accompany you all the way to the Rainbolt Village and to the sacred waterfall.
The rainbows that are open to traffic
Can it still be called a "paradise"?
Some people may say, it is 2022 years, the opening of the Yuebang can still be called a paradise?
The rainbows were opened to traffic back in 2018, and it will be much easier for local villagers to access medical care, schools, and shopping, and likewise for tourists, not a bad thing.
There is no doubt that some friends will worry that the rainbows will not be overly commercialized and become less pure in the future.
Maybe your mind will change when you take a nice hot shower, send out a nine-frame circle of friends with the inn's 24-hour wifi, and have a nice dinner after a day of hiking.
For the route itself, there is actually not much change, you can still choose to hike into the mountains, and when you suddenly see the village of Yuebang appearing in front of you, you will still feel the excitement, which is also a feeling that cannot be replaced by car.
It is hard not to associate with the word "paradise" as they are separated by a big mountain and connected by a river, surrounded by snow-capped mountains and forests on all sides.
Both villages are small, so small that you can spend less than half a day to wander through them, and you can spend your free time lazing around and walking around the villages. Every morning and evening, you can sit on the balcony of the inn, or even in some well-angled rooms, and lie down to enjoy the beautiful sunrise.
The Upper Yu-Avalanche village is located at the foot of the Kawagbo Snow Mountain, which is the necessary route to the Laughing Nong base camp and the glacial lake, and is also the closest village to Kawagbo.
Lower Yuebang village, only half an hour's walk from Upper Yuebang village, the terrain is relatively flat and open, is the way to the sacred waterfall, there is a small pool of water in the village can shoot the reflection of snow-capped mountains, if there is plenty of time, you can completely stay here for some time to retreat.
A pilgrimage of faith
If the moment of seeing the Rainbolt village is a great surprise, then going to the glacial lake and ice falls will surprise you +1.
As a trekkers' paradise, if you only take the section from Xidang Post Road to Yubang Village, you may not be able to understand the charm of "paradise" because the essence of it is concentrated on the way to the glacial lake and the sacred waterfall.
The glacial lake and the sacred waterfall are not on a line, each round trip requires a walk of more than ten kilometers, so you have to spend two days to walk the sacred waterfall and the glacial lake separately.
The glacial lake is a moraine lake at 3800 meters above sea level. The scenery along the way to the glacial lake is constant, forests, streams, pastures, snow-capped mountains, river valleys, glaciers ...... You will have it all in one place.
In addition to the beautiful scenery along the way, you will also pass through the Laughing Farm, which is the site of the base camp of the Sino-Japanese joint mountaineering team. In front of the glacial lake is the closest distance you can get to the sacred mountain, and you can maximize the feeling of the majesty of the snow-capped mountain.
The road to the sacred waterfall is easier than the ice lake, and it is the most mature of the Yuebang trekking routes, as it is all paved with concrete roads, and it is also the most classic section of the Meili pilgrimage transhumance road.
The water of the sacred waterfall is also called "holy water", and it is said that those who have been baptized by the sacred waterfall will have good luck.
I visited once in the summer, when the waterfall was very large, and I still remember being encouraged by the locals to go to the waterfall to be baptized, and the water hit my body that was a pain.
Finally, generally everyone will choose to take the nylon Grand Canyon out of the rainbows, which will take you from the alpine meadows down to the primeval forest and then to the deep canyon, the more exciting, vertical cliff treks, heart racing.
The last sight of the wide Lancang River also means that the trip to the Rainbombing is coming to an end, and perhaps you are starting to miss everything you experienced in the Rainbombing before you even go out.

We started from the upper village of Yuebang at 8:00 am and hiked all the way to the glacial lake. On the way, you will pass through the village entrance [sea buckthorn forest] and enter the primeval forest, and then continue on to reach the [Laughing Nong Base Camp], which was formerly the camp for the Sino-Japanese joint mountaineering team to climb Kavagbo Peak.
After lunch, we will continue our journey to the Ice Lake and return to the village at 6:00 pm to finish the day's trek.
DAY5：Avalanche village-Primal forest-Rest camp-Shenshin waterfall-Horiginal return

DAY6：Yubang Village - Ninong Canyon - Deqin - Baima Snow Mountain - Shangri-La City
