North Koreans for a week's salary.
100 RMB in total.
What services can I enjoy in North Korea?
While traveling in North Korea, we were particularly surprised to learn that the local North Koreans earn a monthly salary that translates into only 400 yuan, which surprised our group of tourists. In our opinion, the salary of the North Koreans is not in line with the prices we pay in North Korea, which are still relatively high.
When we went to a foreign store to buy something, we found that a 1.25 liter bottle of Coke cost 12 yuan, a bottle of Pyongyang brand chopped pepper sauce cost 40 yuan, and a box of Korean ginseng cost 400 yuan, which is even higher than the price level in China. With such prices, it is difficult for North Koreans to live without a monthly salary of several thousand dollars. Later, a fellow tourist told me that North Koreans rely on food distribution, and although they have just enough to eat and drink, they are not worried about food and drink.
In addition, when tourists shop, they can only choose foreign stores, while North Korean locals shop in their own state-run stores, where the prices are said to be one tenth of those in foreign stores. So what services can you enjoy in North Korea with a week's salary of 100 RMB?
The services in North Korea are very few, unlike in Southeast Asia, where there are various kinds of horse-killing services. When we went to the North Korean barber store to get a haircut, we found that the locals only needed RMB 0.8 for a haircut, while tourists had to spend RMB 10 for a haircut.
But the locals cut their hair, are hair cutters wash their own hair, this point in our tourists, very odd. But then, when tourists get their hair cut, there is a special shampoo girl to wash our hair, so the extra money spent is worth the price since it provides extra service. When you walk down the street in Pyongyang, you can call a taxi if you want to go farther away.
In North Korea, it is customary for taxi drivers to work only eight hours a day as part of the state sector, and it seems to many that taxi drivers in North Korea do not have to work overtime and have a quiet job. The starting price for a taxi in North Korea is 13 yuan for three kilometers, and after three kilometers, the price is 4 yuan per kilometer, so if you spend 100 yuan, you only have enough to travel 24.75 kilometers.
Later, we passed by the North Korean foreign restaurant, saw the menu customized for tourists, found that the restaurant just a cold noodles to 20 yuan, like vegetable chowder, also sold to 40 yuan, and North Korea's special dish ginseng chicken stew, sold to 260 yuan, so for tourists, bring 100 yuan, and can not spend a lot of money in North Korea, because North Korea's prices treat North Korean locals and tourists are two faces, take the cold noodles, North Koreans eat a cold noodles 1 yuan, but tourists have to spend 20 yuan, such a difference in treatment, so we tourists are very surprised!
