A competitive quad biker was crushed to death by her own vehicle during a race while her boyfriend watched.
Katie Hodgson, 24, had been navigating a route on a treacherous slope called "Killer Hill" when tragedy struck and she was crushed by her bike last Thursday.
She later died in hospital.
The 24-year-old had been on the trip to eastern Europe with her boyfriend, Richard Freestone, who had only been a few seconds in front of her on the track.
In a heartbreaking tribute, Mr Freestone posted on Facebook: "Katie was a true Yorkshire lass full of passion and love, who always lived life to the full and made new friends wherever she went.
"Katie will forever more, be truly loved and sorely missed. Miss you princess."
Katie, a lifelong racer and keen horse rider, grew up in Driffield and went to Driffield School and Sixth Form.
She was just one of a handful of successful female competitors in the quad biking world, according to MailOnline.
Killer Hill is known for being one of the most challenging sections of the Hunt the Wolf race, which Katie was competing in.
It has a gradient of around 70% and is known by racers as a notorious accident blackspot.
Katie's bike, a Can-Am Renegade, came off the track and fell down the hillside after she braked and lost control during the race.
Fellow competitors later paid tribute to the racer, calling her "the most determined and committed rider out there".
She had been living in Coventry while her family remained in East Yorkshire.
Driffield School and Sixth Form headteacher Darren Andrews said: "It is with sadness that we hear about the tragic loss of Katie.
"As a student of Driffield School & Sixth Form we were proud of her achievements. Always a popular and respected student, Katie was valued highly by both her peers and staff. Her friendly and open manner enriched the lives of many, who will miss her greatly.
"Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this difficult time."
Her funeral is due to take place in Garton on the Wolds, near Driffield, on May 3.
